Who Is the Son of God?

If someone has read the previous articles in this series, they might assume the conclusion is that Yeshua was “just a man.” Nothing could be further from the truth.

The Scriptures present Yeshua as utterly unique. There has never been another like Him. There never will be. Before Abraham was born, the Son already existed with the Father. Before the foundation of the world, the Father loved Him. Through Him, יהוה brought all things into being. He is the visible image of the unseen God. He is the perfect revelation of the Father’s character in a body of human flesh. He is the One who alone has seen the Father and made Him known.

Yet this eternal Son did something astonishing. He humbled Himself. He entered the world He had helped bring into existence. He was born of a woman. He grew tired. He became hungry, and His body processed its food. He wept. He prayed. He learned obedience through suffering. He was tempted, yet without sin.

He lived among us—not as a distant ruler, but as the promised Messiah, the Son of God. He perfectly obeyed His Father in everything. He spoke only what the Father gave Him to speak. He did only what He saw His Father doing. He came not to accomplish His own will, but the will of יהוה who sent Him. Because of that perfect obedience, יהוה highly exalted Him. He raised Him from the dead. He seated Him at His own right hand. He gave Him all authority in heaven and on earth. He appointed Him Judge of the living and the dead. He named Him both יהוה and Messiah.

Every knee will bow before Him. Every tongue will confess Him. The angels worship Him. The nations belong to Him. The Kingdom has been entrusted to Him until every enemy has been placed beneath His feet.

Yet even in His exaltation, the Son continues to glorify His Father. He remains the perfect image of יהוה, the perfect representative of יהוה , the perfect revelation of יהוה.

Everything the Son does magnifies the Father who sent Him.  This is why the apostles could proclaim both truths without contradiction. There is one God—the Father. And there is one Messiah—the Son of God.

The Father sends. The Son is sent. The Father gives. The Son receives. The Father raises. The Son is raised. The Father exalts. The Son is exalted. The Father glorifies. The Son is glorified.

This is not a lesser glory. It is the glory of the beloved Son who perfectly reflects His Father. To honor the Son is to honor the Father who sent Him. To reject the Son is to reject the Father who sent Him. The Scriptures never force us to choose between exalting יהוה and exalting His Messiah.

They teach us to do both. For all that the Son is, He is because of the Father’s love, purpose, and gift. And for all that the Father has done, He has chosen to accomplish it through His beloved Son.

No created being has ever occupied such a place. No prophet. No king. No angel. No patriarch. Only Yeshua.

The Son of the living God.
