Today, many protestants are leaving behind their heritage and returning to Catholicism. I’ve seen a news report on it, and today I saw some Catholic podcasters bragging about the statistical win they see. Protestants are doing so because many protestant theologians and preachers are now emphasizing Yeshua’s deity, at the expense of His human identity. Yeshua IS a man! Peter declared Yeshua is a man:
“Men of Israel, hear these words: Yeshua the Nazarene, a man from God who appeared among you by miracles and signs and wonders which God did by Him among you, as you yourselves know, this man who was consecrated for this purpose by the foreknowledge and will of God, you have delivered into the hands of wicked men…” ~ Acts 2:22-23
And Yeshua IS Jewish! Matthew chapter 1 makes that very clear, as does Luke chapter 3, giving us a very accurate and certified Jewish pedigree of the royal line of David. But, the end of the book also tells us this, that Yeshua is a quintessentially Jewish man:
“I, Yeshua, have sent my messenger to testify to you these things in the congregations. I am the Root of David, and his [David’s] offspring, the bright morning star.” ~ Revelation 22:16
It is the ‘Shield of David’ that we see on the modern flag of the nation of Israel today, because David was the divinely appointed King of Israel. Yeshua is directly descened from him.
So, making “Jesus” utterly “God” is detracting from, even destroying His Jewish identity! So, it is actually anti-Semitism, in part, that is driving that! To create a God who is utterly divorced from Israel! This is the very spirit of anti-Messiah!
Constantine founded the Catholic church. Constantine was a rabid anti-Semite. Yeshua as ‘utterly and completely god’ did not exist until Constantine imposed it on the Roman realm. That is just the absolute fact of history. So, the root of anti-Semitism played a big role in purging everything in ‘the faith’ of Judaism, including Yeshua’s own Jewish flesh. Miryam, His mother, was a Jewish princess, directly descended from King David.
Yeshua’s identity in the Scriptures is most clearly seen as a human being, and the Son of God. If we believe anyone’s testimony about that, we should believe His OWN testimony about it.
Yeshua testified concerning His own identity about 86 times. Eighty of those times, He referred to Himself as “The Son of Man“. The list is appended at the end of this article.
When He called Himself “The Son of Man,” in Hebrew, He was saying “Ben Ha’Adam”: the Son of Adam. Idiomatically, He was saying, “The Son of Humanity”, or THE Human Being.
When Yeshua was backed into a corner about His identity, basically His relationship to God, He confessed of Himself that He was not calling Himself “God”, but “The Son of God”, emphasizing His humanity, but not dismissing His divine origin!
All of those accounts happen in the Gospel of John, because John wrote His gospel very late in the game, after 90 A.D., [Yeshua told him to write it in Revelation 1, “write what has been”], and it was geared toward identifying Yeshua not only as the Divine Word becoming flesh, a human body’, but as The Son of God. This is because the greeks receiving the gospel had already begun to err against the scriptures in many ways. He focused on Yeshua as a divine MAN.
The clearest case where Yeshua identified Himself not as “very god” but as The Son of God is in John 10, during the season of Khanukah.
“Why to the one whom The Father consecrated and sent into the world do you say, ‘You blaspheme’, just because I said to you “I am The Son of God”. ~John 10:36
This was in response to Yeshua having said, “I and My Father are unified” in verse 30. Because He said “unified”, they wanted to stone Him for blasphemy. They said that since he was a man, he blapshemed for making Himself ‘God’. [verse 33] Yeshua then interprets HIS OWN WORDS by saying ‘in saying that I am unified with God, “I said to you “I am the Son of God“. Just like today, the Jews confused His ‘unification with God’ statement as if He said “I am God”. He did not! He corrected their misunderstanding, and ours, yet so many today listen to men, and not to Yeshua. “I am the Son of God” actually defines “I and My Father are Unified”.
Yeshua identifies Himself that way three other times in the gospel of John: chapter 5 verse 25, chapter 9 verses 35-37, and chapter 11 verse 4.
The remaining places is where people are asking Yeshua if He is the Son of God, and He affirms it. Matt 26:63-64, and Luke 22:70. In Matthew, it was the High Priest. Yeshua is being executed because He is saying “I am the Son of God”. They said, “Tell us if you are the Messiah, the Son of God.” And He said, “You have said so”, which is direct affirmation. Similarly, Pilate asked him the same, “Are you the Son of God”, and Yeshua uses Semitic idiom “You say that I am”, which is strong affirmation. He was not executed for being God; He was executed for saying “I am the Son of God,” and no one believed it. It is the same today. Today, they believe he is god.
Even in Yeshua’s day, language about His divinity was confusing to people. But, the Apostles preached Him very clearly as the Son of God. When Paul wrote about His divine nature, people confused it, as they do today. Only, today, translations are rendered to support the ‘very god’ idea that did not work itself out until the late 4th century and early 5th century, to most theologians’ admissions.
“Godhead” is a concept to which people cling when they fear not being ‘orthodox’. It is man they fear! The idea of “godhead” is not in the scripture, not in one place. The word in English is rendered from greek for most translations, where the original simply means “divine”.
“For in Him is embodied all the fulness of the divine”. ~ Col 2:9 Most modern translations render ‘divine’ as ‘godhead’, which is a lie. The proof, the same greek word is seen where WE, those who trust, are also filled with all the fulness of the divine in Eph 3:19.
When Constantine wanted to unify his empire, because it was so full of believers, he had to force a unified doctrine on the realm. Since he was a practicing Mithra pagan, he wanted to create a syncretic version of faith in the Messiah, mixing his religion with western greek and roman christianity, and leaving out everything Jewish. The most blatant statement he made about that was, “Let us no longer have anything in common with those odius [disgusting] people, the Jews, but let us henceforth [going forward] worship on the day of Sol Invictus.”
He moved the Sabbath to ‘Sun Day’ [The Day of Sol Invictus, the ‘unconquerable sun’], he moved the Passover, he obliterated Sukkot and Khanukah and created ‘Christ Mass’. [Ritualistically, gods born on 12/25, like Sol Invictus, practiced the execution of babies on that day, whose blood is used at Easter, in fertility rites, so the babies conceived at Easter can be used again on december 25th for the offering to those deities.] Constantine moved all the feasts of God, because he, and the few ‘elders’ of the congregations he allowed to be at the council of Nicea were anti-Semites, who had been dabbling in this doctrine of a non-Jewish “Christ” who was utterly divine. They simply encoded it in the council, wrote the bull, and forced it on the rest of the world.
Thus, it is leaning toward anti-Semitic to think that Yeshua is utterly “god”. It does away with His connection to David, and to Abraham. It removes the humanity, the Jewish Messiah, from the equation. This creates ‘another Yeshua’, a different Messiah altogether: “Jesus”. And since that ‘christ’ is utterly god, everyone who believes that way is utterly afraid to think.
Scripture supports the Messiah who is the Son of David, through the Ru’akh HaKodesh, the divine Spirit of Consecration, and Miryam, a Jewish woman.
The god of most people today is anti-Semitic. Anti-Semitism is on the rise, at the same time that “Jesus is God” is becoming the popular preaching, and protestants are returning to Catholicism. That is no coincidence. It is the very spirit of anti-Messiah.
