The catholic holiday, ‘christ mass’, which has shades of ancient infanticide for worship all rolled up in it, is rooted in fallacy, no matter how pretty it is painted.
Our founders rejected it. They were once headed in the right direction, trying to do the Word of God, undoing the error they had inherited from their forebears, seeing it only after finally being given the Scriptures in their own language.
“Those who worship Him [God] must worship Him in Spirit and TRUTH.”
Here are some nuggets of truth:
King James VI of Scotland became King James I of England; he believed he was descended from King David of Israel. He may indeed have been Jewish, according to DNA findings recently.
The Bible he had created called Yeshua “Iesus”, not “Jesus”.
The first settlers in America [among whom were my forefathers, John Crouch was a teacher at Jamestown colony] were leaving behind everything catholic, including its remaining grip on the newer “Church of England”. They believed in living out the righteousness God granted through faith in Yeshua.
William Bradford’s [founder at Salem] grave had His Name, יהוה, on it.
The first thanksgiving was based on the Biblical holy days, “Sukkot”, a fall feast.
One of the very first churches outside of Salem, in Rhode Island, was a Seventh Day church.
They established their colonies on the Scriptures, to the best of their understanding.
As such, after the founders put in protections against tyranny, the new ‘states’ retained their stance on keeping catholic paganism at bay: christmas was illegal in most colonies, and then the states.
It was not practiced/observed by most Americans. George Washington never kept it.
It was not until the influx of German and Irish-catholic immigrants that those bans were lifted, and it was not until the late Victorian era [1860s-90s] that Americans began to do the things even protestant Christians think are ‘old’ and ‘divine’ today. “Christmas” as seen in America today is less than 150 years old! Santa was invented in the 1890s. He is a pagan deity. Most celebrants of xmas are not believers in Yeshua at all, and many do not even believe in God at all.
“Thus says יהוה , ‘Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, “Where is the good way?”, and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls’. But they said, ‘We will not walk therein’.”
This is one extra-biblical reason I celebrate Khanukah. It actually applies to Yeshua, as He was CONCEIVED at this time, and born in the early fall.
