Be Happy!

Over the years, many have asked me a question that generally gets posed this way…
“I know what I am supposed to do, but I can’t seem to ‘make myself’ do it.”

This is in regard to ‘doing’ the things of right living, and not doing those things most people know to be negative, though they give them ‘pleasure’ of some sort.

For some reason, while exercising and somewhat praying, as much as I could pray while exercising yesterday, this was going through my mind.

And the following verses came to mind:

אַשְׁרֵי הָאִישׁ– אֲשֶׁר לֹא הָלַךְ, בַּעֲצַת רְשָׁעִים
וּבְדֶרֶךְ חַטָּאִים, לֹא עָמָד, וּבְמוֹשַׁב לֵצִים, לֹא יָשָׁב
כִּי אִם בְּתוֹרַת יהוה, חֶפְצוֹ; וּבְתוֹרָתוֹ יֶהְגֶּה, יוֹמָם וָלָיְלָה

Tehillah 1:1-2 [Psalm]

“Happy is the man that has not walked in the counsel of the wicked, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the Torah of  יהוה ; and in His Torah does he meditate day and night.”

The word ‘delight’ here is the one that captured my attention in my mind. [I was meditating on this in Hebrew in my mind]. It is Khafetz

חפצ [letters are right-to-left]

It loses a bit of its luster here in English, being rendered ‘his delight.’

Khafetz is a powerful word, beginning with a guttural thrust. The letter is khet, which is spoken from the back of the throat, partly closed, and with a burst of air, similar to clearing the throat, but more powerfully.

This letter’s original symbolism means “LIFE”, which in Hebrew is KHAI !!

Life is ‘power’, in the Hebrew mind. It is ‘force’. We used to think about it that way, but it has become so cheapened to us, and our society delights in ‘death’, and in seeing death brought about in ‘chaos’, snuffing out the quiet power of life.

The second letter in the word Khafetz/delight is a ‘feh’.

A ‘feh’ has the symbolism of a person’s head, and means face /mouth.

The last letter is a Tzadi. A Tzadi is the picture of a “righteous man”, a “Tzaddik” [which is what Tzefan-Yah called Yeshua in Acts 7:52, “righteous one” in standard english bibles.] The letter ‘tzadi’ shows the tzaddik down on his knees, with his hands in the air, praising Yah.

So, in this description in Tehillah 1 [Psalm 1, see verse six to see that it is describing ‘the righteous’], which is describing The Tzaddik, his ‘desire’, delight’, ‘longing’, ‘passion’ is described in one word whose symbolism is:

“KHAI [Life] [is in] the Face/Mouth of the Righteous Man on his knees”

Do you know how the human face ‘comes to life’ when we see something we ‘desire’.

Delight is not a bad word for this verse, but it is distilled in English, we don’t quite get the impact.

Khafetz is a POWER word:

GREAT PASSION, LONGING, DESIRE.

The DESIRE/LONGING of a Tzaddik is The TORAH of יהוה [The only G-d of Avraham, Yitz’khak, and Ya’akov].

Everyone has something or someone in their life that “lights them up.”

If it is a sinful thing [lust, greed, gluttony, anger, gossip, murder, jealousy, etc], then to be free of that ‘passion’, one must learn to DESIRE/LONG FOR the TORAH of יהוה , to redirect one’s passion to HIM.

One’s Khafetz CAN be redirected to His Torah, when one learns that it is ALIVE and BREATHING in Messiah Yeshua!

The Torah is KHAI !!! LIFE!!!

תֹּורַת חָכָם מְקֹור חַיִּים

“The Torah of Wisdom is the SOURCE OF KHAYIM, [LIFE!] ” Proverbs 13:14

כִּי נֵר מִצְוָה וְתֹורָה אֹור וְדֶרֶךְ חַיִּים תֹּוכְחֹות מוּסָֽר

“For the commandment is a lamp, the Torah is LIGHT, and reproofs of instruction are the way of KHAYIM! [LIFE!]” Prov 6:23

Shaul understood this, and worded this concept this way:

“If then you are risen with Mashiakh, seek those things which are above, where Mashiakh sits at the right hand of Elohim. Set [affix] your DESIRE [khafetz] on things above, NOT ON THINGS ON THE EARTH.” Col 3:1-2

Mashiakh [Messiah] IS THE TORAH !!!

He is LIFE!

Affix, make firm your PASSION on HIM instead of the things in earth that vie for your desire, passion, longing…..no matter what it is!

THAT is a Tzaddik.

“If you love me, you will keep my mitzvot [commandments]”. ~ Yeshua

Yeshua also taught that there is FREEDOM in the Torah, but most people are victims of a western European mindset, and miss it altogether:

“If you abide by MY WORD, you are truly my Talmidim.  32And you will know the TRUTH, and that very truth will make you free.”  Yokhanan 8:31-32

The Torah is the Truth of HOW we are supposed to live our lives; if we make HIS DESIRES into OUR DESIRES, then we are FREE.

“I will RUN in the path of your mitzvot, for you have SET MY HEART FREE!”  Tehillah 119:32

Yeshua’s brother echoed the idea, and it is clear to the reader who takes the WORD at face value that he is talking about the Torah:

“But whoever looks into the Torah of complete liberty and abides in it is not merely a hearer of it, which can be forgotten, but a doer of the work, and this man shall be blessed in his labor.”  Ya’akov 1:25

Reading Tehillah 119 [Psalm 119] with the understanding that when it says ‘law’ in English it is actually “Torah” in Hebrew, and that King David meant Genesis through Deuteronomy, one then learns that David had the “Khafetz” that he wrote about in the first psalm.

The LIFE of Elohim in one’s mouth makes one a Tzadik, and that one is HAPPY!

Be Happy!

  1. Isn’t it amazing how often ABBA wants us to be happy and joyful and DELIGHT?!!!!
We have an ETERNAL HOPE IN ABBA. Still we walk around as if the ship has sunk, singing a melancholy tune…
I used to be that way for years (even though there were/are reasons)…
When I read BE HAPPY…I felt a hammering on my head that it is almost a commandment from ABBA to be happy…
    Thank you Brother Daniel…Keep pouring…

  2. Amen!
Us humans are so much like the dog that will fight to keep his dry bone, devoid of nutrients, all the while, our Lord is holding a juicy steak in front of us.
May we all be like Jonathan with the honey comb… enlightened and empowered to answer the call of Elohim!
    Happy 4th all!

  3. Amein!

With life we can continue seeking to Him,with our mouths we need to be a vassel of wisdom for others and as a righteous man we need to be like YHWH YESHUA every day giving love, compassion and forgiveness to others.
    Thank you ,Mr.Daniel

  4. Amein!

We delight in YAH’UAH’ and His Redeemer, YESHUA our Living Torah. Our Life!

  5. This has also been on my mind in part as of late, since I am dealing with what I am in my life. It is so refreshing to hear someone else Voice it. Couple that with the latter half of Psalm 19 and boy that is something to think about!

    1. More to be desired than gold, even than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey, and the honeycomb.

      Indeed!
