1For the Leader. A Maskil of David;
2when Do’eg the Adomi came and told Sha’ul, and said unto him, “David is come to the house of Akhimelekh.”
3Why do you boast yourself of evil, O mighty man? The compassion of Elohim endures continually.
4Your tongue devises destruction; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
5You love evil more than good; falsehood rather than speaking righteousness. Selah.
6You love all devouring words, the deceitful tongue.
7Elohim will likewise break you forever; He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.
8The Tzadikim also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
9“Lo, this is the man that made not Elohim his stronghold, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness?”
10But as for me, I am like a leafy olive tree in Beit Elohim; I trust in the compassion of Elohim forever and ever.
11I will give You thanks forever, because You have done it; and I will wait for Your Name, for it is good, in the presence of Your Khasidim.
