1HaDavar that came to Yirme-Yahu from יהוה , saying, 2“Stand in the gate of Beit יהוה , and proclaim there this word, and say, ‘Hear the D’var יהוה , all you of Yehudah, that enter in at these gates to worship יהוה ‘.” Thus3 says יהוה Tzeva’ot, Elohei Yisra’el, “Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. 4Trust not in lying words, saying, ‘The Heikhal of יהוה , the Heikhal of יהוה , the Heikhal of יהוה , are these’. 5Nay, but if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbor; 6if you oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt; 7then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever. 8Behold, you trust in lying words, that cannot profit. 9Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and offer unto Ba’al, and walk after other gods whom you have not known, 10and come and stand before Me in this house, whereupon My Name is called, and say, ‘We are delivered’, that you may do all these abominations? 11Is this house, whereupon My Name is called, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it”, says יהוה . “For12 go now unto My place, which was in Shiloh, where I caused My Name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of My people Yisra’el. 13And now, because you have done all these works”, says יהוה , “and I spoke unto you, speaking betimes and often, but you heard not, and I called you, but you answered not; 14therefore will I do unto the house, whereupon My Name is called, wherein you trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh. 15And I will cast you out of My sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Efrayim.”
16“Therefore do not pray for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to Me; for I will not hear you. 17Do you not see what they do in the cities of Yehudah and in the streets of Yerushalayim? 18The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke Me. 19Do they provoke Me”, says יהוה . “Do they not provoke themselves, to the confusion of their own faces? 20Therefore thus says Adonai יהוה , ‘Behold, My anger and My fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the land; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched’.”
Tzav (1) 21“Thus says יהוה Tzeva’ot, Elohei Yisra’el, ‘Add your burnt-offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh. 22For I spoke not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Mitzrayim, concerning burnt-offerings or sacrifices; 23but this thing I commanded them, saying, hearken unto My voice, and I will be your Elohim, and you shall be My people; and walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you’.”
24“But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in their own counsels, even in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward and not forward, 25even since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Mitzrayim unto this day; and though I have sent unto you all My servants the Nevi’im, sending them daily betimes and often, 26yet they hearkened not unto Me, nor inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff; they did worse than their fathers. 27And you shall speak all these words unto them, but they will not hearken to you; you shall also call unto them, but they will not answer you. 28Therefore you shall say unto them, ‘This is the nation that has not hearkened to the voice of יהוה their Elohim, nor received correction; faithfulness is perished, and is cut off from their mouth. 29Cut off your hair, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on the high hills; for יהוה has rejected and forsaken the generation of His wrath’. 30For B’nei Yehudah have done that which is evil in My sight”, says יהוה . “They have set their detestable things in the house whereon My Name is called, to defile it. 31And they have built the high places of Tofet, which is in Gei Ben Hinom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded not, neither came it into My mind.”
32“Therefore, behold, the days come”, says יהוה , “that it shall no more be called Tofet, nor Gei Ben Hinom, but the valley of slaughter; for they shall bury in Tofet, for lack of room. 33And the carcasses of this people shall be food for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall frighten them away. 34Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Yehudah, and from the streets of Yerushalayim, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land shall be desolate.”
אהַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר הָיָה אֶל יִרְמְיָהוּ מֵאֵת יהוה לֵאמֹר, בעֲמֹד בְּשַׁעַר בֵּית יהוה וְקָרָאתָ שָּׁם אֶת הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה; וְאָמַרְתָּ שִׁמְעוּ דְבַר יהוה כָּל יְהוּדָה הַבָּאִים בַּשְּׁעָרִים הָאֵלֶּה לְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֹת לַיהוה . גכֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הֵיטִיבוּ דַרְכֵיכֶם וּמַעַלְלֵיכֶם; וַאֲשַׁכְּנָה אֶתְכֶם בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה. דאַל תִּבְטְחוּ לָכֶם אֶל דִּבְרֵי הַשֶּׁקֶר לֵאמֹר: הֵיכַל יהוה הֵיכַל יהוה הֵיכַל יהוה הֵמָּה. הכִּי אִם הֵיטֵיב תֵּיטִיבוּ אֶת דַּרְכֵיכֶם וְאֶת מַעַלְלֵיכֶם: אִם עָשׂוֹ תַעֲשׂוּ מִשְׁפָּט בֵּין אִישׁ וּבֵין רֵעֵהוּ. וגֵּר יָתוֹם וְאַלְמָנָה לֹא תַעֲשֹׁקוּ וְדָם נָקִי אַל תִּשְׁפְּכוּ בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה; וְאַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים לֹא תֵלְכוּ לְרַע לָכֶם. זוְשִׁכַּנְתִּי אֶתְכֶם בַּמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה בָּאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לַאֲבוֹתֵיכֶם: לְמִן עוֹלָם וְעַד עוֹלָם. חהִנֵּה אַתֶּם בֹּטְחִים לָכֶם עַל דִּבְרֵי הַשָּׁקֶר לְבִלְתִּי הוֹעִיל. טהֲגָנֹב רָצֹחַ וְנָאֹף וְהִשָּׁבֵעַ לַשֶּׁקֶר וְקַטֵּר לַבָּעַל; וְהָלֹךְ אַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים אֲשֶׁר לֹא יְדַעְתֶּם. יוּבָאתֶם וַעֲמַדְתֶּם לְפָנַי בַּבַּיִת הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא שְׁמִי עָלָיו וַאֲמַרְתֶּם נִצַּלְנוּ לְמַעַן עֲשׂוֹת אֵת כָּל הַתּוֹעֵבוֹת הָאֵלֶּה. יאהַמְעָרַת פָּרִצִים הָיָה הַבַּיִת הַזֶּה אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא שְׁמִי עָלָיו בְּעֵינֵיכֶם; גַּם אָנֹכִי הִנֵּה רָאִיתִי נְאֻם יהוה . יבכִּי לְכוּ נָא אֶל מְקוֹמִי אֲשֶׁר בְּשִׁילוֹ אֲשֶׁר שִׁכַּנְתִּי שְׁמִי שָׁם בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה; וּרְאוּ אֵת אֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי לוֹ מִפְּנֵי רָעַת עַמִּי יִשְׂרָאֵל. יגוְעַתָּה יַעַן עֲשׂוֹתְכֶם אֶת כָּל הַמַּעֲשִׂים הָאֵלֶּה נְאֻם יהוה ; וָאֲדַבֵּר אֲלֵיכֶם הַשְׁכֵּם וְדַבֵּר וְלֹא שְׁמַעְתֶּם וָאֶקְרָא אֶתְכֶם וְלֹא עֲנִיתֶם. ידוְעָשִׂיתִי לַבַּיִת אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא שְׁמִי עָלָיו אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם בֹּטְחִים בּוֹ וְלַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לָכֶם וְלַאֲבוֹתֵיכֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשִׂיתִי לְשִׁלוֹ. טווְהִשְׁלַכְתִּי אֶתְכֶם מֵעַל פָּנָי כַּאֲשֶׁר הִשְׁלַכְתִּי אֶת כָּל אֲחֵיכֶם אֵת כָּל זֶרַע אֶפְרָיִם.
טזוְאַתָּה אַל תִּתְפַּלֵּל בְּעַד הָעָם הַזֶּה וְאַל תִּשָּׂא בַעֲדָם רִנָּה וּתְפִלָּה וְאַל תִּפְגַּע בִּי: כִּי אֵינֶנִּי שֹׁמֵעַ אֹתָךְ. יזהַאֵינְךָ רֹאֶה מָה הֵמָּה עֹשִׂים בְּעָרֵי יְהוּדָה וּבְחֻצוֹת יְרוּשָׁלִָם. יחהַבָּנִים מְלַקְּטִים עֵצִים וְהָאָבוֹת מְבַעֲרִים אֶת הָאֵשׁ וְהַנָּשִׁים לָשׁוֹת בָּצֵק: לַעֲשׂוֹת כַּוָּנִים לִמְלֶכֶת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְהַסֵּךְ נְסָכִים לֵאלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים לְמַעַן הַכְעִסֵנִי. יטהַאֹתִי הֵם מַכְעִסִים נְאֻם יהוה ; הֲלוֹא אֹתָם לְמַעַן בֹּשֶׁת פְּנֵיהֶם. כלָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יהוה הִנֵּה אַפִּי וַחֲמָתִי נִתֶּכֶת אֶל הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה עַל הָאָדָם וְעַל הַבְּהֵמָה וְעַל עֵץ הַשָּׂדֶה וְעַל פְּרִי הָאֲדָמָה; וּבָעֲרָה וְלֹא תִכְבֶּה.
כאכֹּה אָמַר יהוה צְבָאוֹת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל: עֹלוֹתֵיכֶם סְפוּ עַל זִבְחֵיכֶם וְאִכְלוּ בָשָׂר. כבכִּי לֹא דִבַּרְתִּי אֶת אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם וְלֹא צִוִּיתִים בְּיוֹם הוציא (הוֹצִיאִי) אוֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם עַל דִּבְרֵי עוֹלָה וָזָבַח. כגכִּי אִם אֶת הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה צִוִּיתִי אוֹתָם לֵאמֹר שִׁמְעוּ בְקוֹלִי וְהָיִיתִי לָכֶם לֵאלֹהִים וְאַתֶּם תִּהְיוּ לִי לְעָם; וַהֲלַכְתֶּם בְּכָל הַדֶּרֶךְ אֲשֶׁר אֲצַוֶּה אֶתְכֶם לְמַעַן יִיטַב לָכֶם. כדוְלֹא שָׁמְעוּ וְלֹא הִטּוּ אֶת אָזְנָם וַיֵּלְכוּ בְּמֹעֵצוֹת בִּשְׁרִרוּת לִבָּם הָרָע; וַיִּהְיוּ לְאָחוֹר וְלֹא לְפָנִים. כהלְמִן הַיּוֹם אֲשֶׁר יָצְאוּ אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה וָאֶשְׁלַח אֲלֵיכֶם אֶת כָּל עֲבָדַי הַנְּבִיאִים יוֹם הַשְׁכֵּם וְשָׁלֹחַ. כווְלוֹא שָׁמְעוּ אֵלַי וְלֹא הִטּוּ אֶת אָזְנָם; וַיַּקְשׁוּ אֶת עָרְפָּם הֵרֵעוּ מֵאֲבוֹתָם. כזוְדִבַּרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם אֶת כָּל הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה וְלֹא יִשְׁמְעוּ אֵלֶיךָ; וְקָרָאתָ אֲלֵיהֶם וְלֹא יַעֲנוּכָה. כחוְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם זֶה הַגּוֹי אֲשֶׁר לוֹא שָׁמְעוּ בְּקוֹל יהוה אֱלֹהָיו וְלֹא לָקְחוּ מוּסָר; אָבְדָה הָאֱמוּנָה וְנִכְרְתָה מִפִּיהֶם. כטגָּזִּי נִזְרֵךְ וְהַשְׁלִיכִי וּשְׂאִי עַל שְׁפָיִם קִינָה: כִּי מָאַס יהוה וַיִּטֹּשׁ אֶת דּוֹר עֶבְרָתוֹ. לכִּי עָשׂוּ בְנֵי יְהוּדָה הָרַע בְּעֵינַי נְאֻם יהוה : שָׂמוּ שִׁקּוּצֵיהֶם בַּבַּיִת אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא שְׁמִי עָלָיו לְטַמְּאוֹ. לאוּבָנוּ בָּמוֹת הַתֹּפֶת אֲשֶׁר בְּגֵיא בֶן הִנֹּם לִשְׂרֹף אֶת בְּנֵיהֶם וְאֶת בְּנֹתֵיהֶם בָּאֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר לֹא צִוִּיתִי וְלֹא עָלְתָה עַל לִבִּי.
לבלָכֵן הִנֵּה יָמִים בָּאִים נְאֻם יהוה וְלֹא יֵאָמֵר עוֹד הַתֹּפֶת וְגֵיא בֶן הִנֹּם כִּי אִם גֵּיא הַהֲרֵגָה; וְקָבְרוּ בְתֹפֶת מֵאֵין מָקוֹם. לגוְהָיְתָה נִבְלַת הָעָם הַזֶּה לְמַאֲכָל לְעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם וּלְבֶהֱמַת הָאָרֶץ; וְאֵין מַחֲרִיד. לדוְהִשְׁבַּתִּי מֵעָרֵי יְהוּדָה וּמֵחֻצוֹת יְרוּשָׁלִַם קוֹל שָׂשׂוֹן וְקוֹל שִׂמְחָה קוֹל חָתָן וְקוֹל כַּלָּה: כִּי לְחָרְבָּה תִּהְיֶה הָאָרֶץ.
