1The D’var יהוה that came unto Hoshe’ah Ben Be’eri, in the days of Uzi-Yah, Yotam, Akhaz, and Yekhizki-Yah, Melakhim Yehudah, and in the days of Yaravam Ben Yo’ash, Melekh Yisra’el. 2When יהוה spoke at first with Hoshe’ah.
And יהוה said unto Hoshe’ah, “Go, take unto yourself a wife of harlotry and children of harlotry; for the land does commit great harlotry, departing from יהוה .” So3 he went and took Gomer Bat Divlayim; and she conceived, and bore him a son. 4And יהוה said unto him, “Call his name Yizre’el; for yet a little while, and I will visit the blood of Yizre’el upon the house of Yehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of Beit Yisra’el. 5And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Yisra’el in the valley of Yizre’el.” 6And she conceived again, and bore a daughter. And He said unto him, “Call her name Lo Rukhamah; for I will no more have mercy upon Beit Yisra’el, that I should in any wise pardon them. 7But I will have mercy upon Beit Yehudah, and will save them by יהוה their Elohim, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, nor by horses, nor by horsemen.” 8Now when she had weaned Lo Rukhamah, she conceived, and bore a son. 9And He said, “Call his name Lo Ami; for you are not My people, and I will not be yours.”
אדְּבַר יהוה אֲשֶׁר הָיָה אֶל הוֹשֵׁעַ בֶּן בְּאֵרִי בִּימֵי עֻזִּיָּה יוֹתָם אָחָז יְחִזְקִיָּה מַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה וּבִימֵי יָרָבְעָם בֶּן יוֹאָשׁ מֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל. בתְּחִלַּת דִּבֶּר יהוה בְּהוֹשֵׁעַ:
וַיֹּאמֶר יהוה אֶל הוֹשֵׁעַ לֵךְ קַח לְךָ אֵשֶׁת זְנוּנִים וְיַלְדֵי זְנוּנִים כִּי זָנֹה תִזְנֶה הָאָרֶץ מֵאַחֲרֵי יהוה . גוַיֵּלֶךְ וַיִּקַּח אֶת גֹּמֶר בַּת דִּבְלָיִם; וַתַּהַר וַתֵּלֶד לוֹ בֵּן. דוַיֹּאמֶר יהוה אֵלָיו קְרָא שְׁמוֹ יִזְרְעֶאל: כִּי עוֹד מְעַט וּפָקַדְתִּי אֶת דְּמֵי יִזְרְעֶאל עַל בֵּית יֵהוּא וְהִשְׁבַּתִּי מַמְלְכוּת בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל. הוְהָיָה בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא; וְשָׁבַרְתִּי אֶת קֶשֶׁת יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעֵמֶק יִזְרְעֶאל. ווַתַּהַר עוֹד וַתֵּלֶד בַּת וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ קְרָא שְׁמָהּ לֹא רֻחָמָה: כִּי לֹא אוֹסִיף עוֹד אֲרַחֵם אֶת בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי נָשֹׂא אֶשָּׂא לָהֶם. זוְאֶת בֵּית יְהוּדָה אֲרַחֵם וְהוֹשַׁעְתִּים בַּיהוה אֱלֹהֵיהֶם; וְלֹא אוֹשִׁיעֵם בְּקֶשֶׁת וּבְחֶרֶב וּבְמִלְחָמָה בְּסוּסִים וּבְפָרָשִׁים. חוַתִּגְמֹל אֶת לֹא רֻחָמָה; וַתַּהַר וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן. טוַיֹּאמֶר קְרָא שְׁמוֹ לֹא עַמִּי: כִּי אַתֶּם לֹא עַמִּי וְאָנֹכִי לֹא אֶהְיֶה לָכֶם.
