2It is the glory of Elohim to conceal a matter; but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
3The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4Take away the dross from the silver, and there comes forth a vessel for the refiner;
5Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6Glorify not yourself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men;
7For better is it that it be said unto you, “Come up here”, than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, whom your eyes have seen.
8Go not forth hastily to strive, lest you know not what to do in the end thereof, when your neighbor has put you to shame.
9Debate your cause with your neighbor, but reveal not the secret of another;
10Lest he that hears it revile you, and your infamy turns not away.
11A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.
12As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to him that sends him; for he refreshes the soul of his master.
14As vapors and wind without rain, so is he that boasts himself of a false gift.
15By long forbearing is a ruler persuaded, and a soft tongue breaks the bone.
16Have you found honey? Eat so much as is sufficient for you, lest you be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17Let your foot be seldom in your neighbour’s house; lest he be sated with you, and hate you.
18As a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow, so is a man that bears false witness against his neighbor.
19Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20As one that takes off a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon niter, so is he that sings songs to a heavy heart.
21If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
22For you will heap coals of fire upon his head, and יהוה will reward you.
23The north wind brings forth rain, and a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.
24It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than in a house in common with a contentious woman.
25As cold waters to a faint soul, so is good news from a far country.
26As a troubled fountain, and a corrupted spring, so is a Tzadik that gives way before the wicked.
27It is not good to eat much honey; also, for men to search out their own glory is not glory.
28Like a city broken down and without a wall, so is he whose spirit is without restraint.
אגַּם אֵלֶּה מִשְׁלֵי שְׁלֹמֹה אֲשֶׁר הֶעְתִּיקוּ אַנְשֵׁי חִזְקִיָּה מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה.
בכְּבֹד אֱלֹהִים הַסְתֵּר דָּבָר; וּכְבֹד מְלָכִים חֲקֹר דָּבָר.
גשָׁמַיִם לָרוּם וָאָרֶץ לָעֹמֶק; וְלֵב מְלָכִים אֵין חֵקֶר.
דהָגוֹ סִיגִים מִכָּסֶף; וַיֵּצֵא לַצֹּרֵף כֶּלִי.
ההָגוֹ רָשָׁע לִפְנֵי מֶלֶךְ; וְיִכּוֹן בַּצֶּדֶק כִּסְאוֹ.
ואַל תִּתְהַדַּר לִפְנֵי מֶלֶךְ; וּבִמְקוֹם גְּדֹלִים אַל תַּעֲמֹד.
זכִּי טוֹב אֲמָר לְךָ עֲלֵה הֵנָּה: מֵהַשְׁפִּילְךָ לִפְנֵי נָדִיב אֲשֶׁר רָאוּ עֵינֶיךָ.
חאַל תֵּצֵא לָרִב מַהֵר: פֶּן מַה תַּעֲשֶׂה בְּאַחֲרִיתָהּ בְּהַכְלִים אֹתְךָ רֵעֶךָ.
טרִיבְךָ רִיב אֶת רֵעֶךָ; וְסוֹד אַחֵר אַל תְּגָל.
יפֶּן יְחַסֶּדְךָ שֹׁמֵעַ; וְדִבָּתְךָ לֹא תָשׁוּב.
יאתַּפּוּחֵי זָהָב בְּמַשְׂכִּיּוֹת כָּסֶף דָּבָר דָּבֻר עַל אָפְנָיו.
יבנֶזֶם זָהָב וַחֲלִי כָתֶם מוֹכִיחַ חָכָם עַל אֹזֶן שֹׁמָעַת.
יגכְּצִנַּת שֶׁלֶג בְּיוֹם קָצִיר צִיר נֶאֱמָן לְשֹׁלְחָיו; וְנֶפֶשׁ אֲדֹנָיו יָשִׁיב.
ידנְשִׂיאִים וְרוּחַ וְגֶשֶׁם אָיִן אִישׁ מִתְהַלֵּל בְּמַתַּת שָׁקֶר.
טובְּאֹרֶךְ אַפַּיִם יְפֻתֶּה קָצִין; וְלָשׁוֹן רַכָּה תִּשְׁבָּר גָּרֶם.
טזדְּבַשׁ מָצָאתָ אֱכֹל דַּיֶּךָּ: פֶּן תִּשְׂבָּעֶנּוּ וַהֲקֵאתוֹ.
יזהֹקַר רַגְלְךָ מִבֵּית רֵעֶךָ: פֶּן יִשְׂבָּעֲךָ וּשְׂנֵאֶךָ.
יחמֵפִיץ וְחֶרֶב וְחֵץ שָׁנוּן אִישׁ עֹנֶה בְרֵעֵהוּ עֵד שָׁקֶר.
יטשֵׁן רֹעָה וְרֶגֶל מוּעָדֶת מִבְטָח בּוֹגֵד בְּיוֹם צָרָה.
כמַעֲדֶה בֶּגֶד בְּיוֹם קָרָה חֹמֶץ עַל נָתֶר; וְשָׁר בַּשִּׁרִים עַל לֶב רָע.
כאאִם רָעֵב שֹׂנַאֲךָ הַאֲכִלֵהוּ לָחֶם; וְאִם צָמֵא הַשְׁקֵהוּ מָיִם.
כבכִּי גֶחָלִים אַתָּה חֹתֶה עַל רֹאשׁוֹ; וַיהוה יְשַׁלֶּם לָךְ.
כגרוּחַ צָפוֹן תְּחוֹלֵל גָּשֶׁם; וּפָנִים נִזְעָמִים לְשׁוֹן סָתֶר.
כדטוֹב שֶׁבֶת עַל פִּנַּת גָּג מֵאֵשֶׁת מדונים (מִדְיָנִים) וּבֵית חָבֶר.
כהמַיִם קָרִים עַל נֶפֶשׁ עֲיֵפָה; וּשְׁמוּעָה טוֹבָה מֵאֶרֶץ מֶרְחָק.
כומַעְיָן נִרְפָּשׂ וּמָקוֹר מָשְׁחָת צַדִּיק מָט לִפְנֵי רָשָׁע.
כזאָכֹל דְּבַשׁ הַרְבּוֹת לֹא טוֹב; וְחֵקֶר כְּבֹדָם כָּבוֹד.
כחעִיר פְּרוּצָה אֵין חוֹמָה אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר אֵין מַעְצָר לְרוּחוֹ.
