1And it came to pass, at the time of the return of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that Yo’av led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Amon, and came and besieged Rabah. But David tarried at Yerushalayim. And Yo’av smote Rabah, and overthrew it. 2And David took the crown of Malkam from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David’s head; and he brought forth the spoil of the city, exceedingly much. 3And he brought forth the people that were therein, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. And thus did David unto all the cities of the children of Amon. And David and all the people returned to Yerushalayim. 4And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the P’lishtim; then Sibekhai the Khushati slew Sipai, of the sons of the Refayim; and they were subdued. 5And there was again war with the P’lishtim; and Elkhanan Ben Ya’ir slew Lakhmi the brother of Galyat HaGiti, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam. 6And there was again war at Gat, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were twenty-four, six [on each hand], and six [on each foot]; and he also was born unto the Rafa. 7And when he taunted Yisra’el, Yehonatan Ben Shime’a David’s brother slew him. 8These were born unto the Rafa in Gat; and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.
אוַיְהִי לְעֵת תְּשׁוּבַת הַשָּׁנָה לְעֵת צֵאת הַמְּלָכִים וַיִּנְהַג יוֹאָב אֶת חֵיל הַצָּבָא וַיַּשְׁחֵת אֶת אֶרֶץ בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן וַיָּבֹא וַיָּצַר אֶת רַבָּה וְדָוִיד יֹשֵׁב בִּירוּשָׁלִָם; וַיַּךְ יוֹאָב אֶת רַבָּה וַיֶּהֶרְסֶהָ. בוַיִּקַּח דָּוִיד אֶת עֲטֶרֶת מַלְכָּם מֵעַל רֹאשׁוֹ וַיִּמְצָאָהּ מִשְׁקַל כִּכַּר זָהָב וּבָהּ אֶבֶן יְקָרָה וַתְּהִי עַל רֹאשׁ דָּוִיד; וּשְׁלַל הָעִיר הוֹצִיא הַרְבֵּה מְאֹד. גוְאֶת הָעָם אֲשֶׁר בָּהּ הוֹצִיא וַיָּשַׂר בַּמְּגֵרָה וּבַחֲרִיצֵי הַבַּרְזֶל וּבַמְּגֵרוֹת וְכֵן יַעֲשֶׂה דָוִיד לְכֹל עָרֵי בְנֵי עַמּוֹן; וַיָּשָׁב דָּוִיד וְכָל הָעָם יְרוּשָׁלִָם. דוַיְהִי אַחֲרֵי כֵן וַתַּעֲמֹד מִלְחָמָה בְּגֶזֶר עִם פְּלִשְׁתִּים; אָז הִכָּה סִבְּכַי הַחֻשָׁתִי אֶת סִפַּי מִילִידֵי הָרְפָאִים וַיִּכָּנֵעוּ. הוַתְּהִי עוֹד מִלְחָמָה אֶת פְּלִשְׁתִּים; וַיַּךְ אֶלְחָנָן בֶּן יעור (יָעִיר) אֶת לַחְמִי אֲחִי גָּלְיָת הַגִּתִּי וְעֵץ חֲנִיתוֹ כִּמְנוֹר אֹרְגִים. ווַתְּהִי עוֹד מִלְחָמָה בְּגַת; וַיְהִי אִישׁ מִדָּה וְאֶצְבְּעֹתָיו שֵׁשׁ וָשֵׁשׁ עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבַּע וְגַם הוּא נוֹלַד לְהָרָפָא. זוַיְחָרֵף אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל; וַיַּכֵּהוּ יְהוֹנָתָן בֶּן שִׁמְעָא אֲחִי דָוִיד. חאֵל נוּלְּדוּ לְהָרָפָא בְּגַת; וַיִּפְּלוּ בְיַד דָּוִיד וּבְיַד עֲבָדָיו.
