1And Moshe called unto all Yisra’el, and said unto them, “You have seen all that יהוה did before your eyes in the land of Mitzrayim unto Paroh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land; 2the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs and those great wonders; 3but יהוה has not given you a heart to know, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day. 4And I have led you forty years in the wilderness; your clothes are not waxed old upon you, and your shoe is not waxed old upon your foot. 5You have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink, that you might know that I am יהוה your Elohim. 6And when you came unto this place, Sikhon the king of Kheshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them. 7And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Re’uveni, and to the Gadi, and to half the tribe of the Manashi. 8Observe therefore the words of this Brit, and do them, that you may make all that you do to prosper.”
Parashat Nitzavim
9“You are standing this day, all of you, before יהוה your Elohim: your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Yisra’el, 10your little ones, your wives, and your stranger that is in the midst of your camp, from the hewer of your wood unto the drawer of your water; 11that you should enter into the Brit of יהוה your Elohim, and into His oath, which יהוה your Elohim makes with you this day; 12that He may establish you this day unto Himself for a people, and that He may be unto you Elohim, as He spoke unto you, and as He swore unto your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitz’khak, and to Ya’akov. 13Neither with you only do I make this Brit and this oath; 14but with him that stands here with us this day before יהוה our Elohim, and also with him that is not here with us this day, 15for you know how we dwelt in the land of Mitzrayim; and how we came through the midst of the nations through which you passed; 16and you have seen their detestable things, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were with them, 17lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turns away this day from יהוה our Elohim, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that bears gall and wormwood; 18and it comes to pass, when he hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall have shalom, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart’, that the watered be swept away with the dry; 19 יהוה will not be willing to pardon him, but then the anger of יהוה and His jealousy shall be kindled against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book shall lie upon him, and יהוה shall blot out his name from under heaven; 20and יהוה shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Yisra’el, according to all the curses of the Brit that is written in this Sefer HaTorah. 21And the generation to come, your children that shall rise up after you, and the foreigner that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses wherewith יהוה has made it sick; 22and that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning, that it is not sown, nor does it bear, nor any grass grows therein, like the overthrow of S’dom and Amorah, Admah and Zevo’im, which יהוה overthrew in His anger, and in His wrath; 23even all the nations shall say, ‘Why has יהוה done this unto this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?’ 24Then men shall say, ‘Because they forsook the Brit of יהוה , the Elohim of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them forth out of the land of Mitzrayim; 25and went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods that they knew not, and that He had not allotted unto them; 26therefore the anger of יהוה was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book; 27and יהוה rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day’. 28The secret things belong unto יהוה our Elohim; but the things that are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this Torah.”
אוַיִּקְרָא מֹשֶׁה אֶל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם אַתֶּם רְאִיתֶם אֵת כָּל אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה יהוה לְעֵינֵיכֶם בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם לְפַרְעֹה וּלְכָל עֲבָדָיו וּלְכָל אַרְצוֹ. בהַמַּסּוֹת הַגְּדֹלֹת אֲשֶׁר רָאוּ עֵינֶיךָ הָאֹתֹת וְהַמֹּפְתִים הַגְּדֹלִים הָהֵם. גוְלֹא נָתַן יהוה לָכֶם לֵב לָדַעַת וְעֵינַיִם לִרְאוֹת וְאָזְנַיִם לִשְׁמֹעַ עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה. דוָאוֹלֵךְ אֶתְכֶם אַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה בַּמִּדְבָּר לֹא בָלוּ שַׂלְמֹתֵיכֶם מֵעֲלֵיכֶם וְנַעַלְךָ לֹא בָלְתָה מֵעַל רַגְלֶךָ. הלֶחֶם לֹא אֲכַלְתֶּם וְיַיִן וְשֵׁכָר לֹא שְׁתִיתֶם לְמַעַן תֵּדְעוּ כִּי אֲנִי יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם. ווַתָּבֹאוּ אֶל הַמָּקוֹם הַזֶּה וַיֵּצֵא סִיחֹן מֶלֶךְ חֶשְׁבּוֹן וְעוֹג מֶלֶךְ הַבָּשָׁן לִקְרָאתֵנוּ לַמִּלְחָמָה וַנַּכֵּם. זוַנִּקַּח אֶת אַרְצָם וַנִּתְּנָהּ לְנַחֲלָה לָראוּבֵנִי וְלַגָּדִי וְלַחֲצִי שֵׁבֶט הַמְנַשִּׁי. חוּשְׁמַרְתֶּם אֶת דִּבְרֵי הַבְּרִית הַזֹּאת וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֹתָם לְמַעַן תַּשְׂכִּילוּ אֵת כָּל אֲשֶׁר תַּעֲשׂוּן.

טאַתֶּם נִצָּבִים הַיּוֹם כֻּלְּכֶם לִפְנֵי יהוה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם רָאשֵׁיכֶם שִׁבְטֵיכֶם זִקְנֵיכֶם וְשֹׁטְרֵיכֶם כֹּל אִישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל. יטַפְּכֶם נְשֵׁיכֶם וְגֵרְךָ אֲשֶׁר בְּקֶרֶב מַחֲנֶיךָ מֵחֹטֵב עֵצֶיךָ עַדשֹׁאֵב מֵימֶיךָ. יאלְעָבְרְךָ בִּבְרִית יהוה אֱלֹהֶיךָ וּבְאָלָתוֹ אֲשֶׁר יהוה אֱלֹהֶיךָ כֹּרֵת עִמְּךָ הַיּוֹם. יבלְמַעַן הָקִים אֹתְךָ הַיּוֹם לוֹ לְעָם וְהוּא יִהְיֶה לְּךָ לֵאלֹהִים כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר לָךְ וְכַאֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע לַאֲבֹתֶיךָ לְאַבְרָהָם לְיִצְחָק וּלְיַעֲקֹב. יגוְלֹא אִתְּכֶם לְבַדְּכֶם אָנֹכִי כֹּרֵת אֶת הַבְּרִית הַזֹּאת וְאֶת הָאָלָה הַזֹּאת. ידכִּי אֶת אֲשֶׁר יֶשְׁנוֹ פֹּה עִמָּנוּ עֹמֵד הַיּוֹם לִפְנֵי יהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וְאֵת אֲשֶׁר אֵינֶנּוּ פֹּה עִמָּנוּ הַיּוֹם. טוכִּי אַתֶּם יְדַעְתֶּם אֵת אֲשֶׁר יָשַׁבְנוּ בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם וְאֵת אֲשֶׁר עָבַרְנוּ בְּקֶרֶב הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר עֲבַרְתֶּם. טזוַתִּרְאוּ אֶת שִׁקּוּצֵיהֶם וְאֵת גִּלֻּלֵיהֶם עֵץ וָאֶבֶן כֶּסֶף וְזָהָב אֲשֶׁר עִמָּהֶם. יזפֶּן יֵשׁ בָּכֶם אִישׁ אוֹ אִשָּׁה אוֹ מִשְׁפָּחָה אוֹ שֵׁבֶט אֲשֶׁר לְבָבוֹ פֹנֶה הַיּוֹם מֵעִם יהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ לָלֶכֶת לַעֲבֹד אֶת אֱלֹהֵי הַגּוֹיִם הָהֵם פֶּן יֵשׁ בָּכֶם שֹׁרֶשׁ פֹּרֶה רֹאשׁ וְלַעֲנָה. יחוְהָיָה בְּשָׁמְעוֹ אֶת דִּבְרֵי הָאָלָה הַזֹּאת וְהִתְבָּרֵךְ בִּלְבָבוֹ לֵאמֹר שָׁלוֹם יִהְיֶה לִּי כִּי בִּשְׁרִרוּת לִבִּי אֵלֵךְ לְמַעַן סְפוֹת הָרָוָה אֶת הַצְּמֵאָה. יטלֹא יֹאבֶה יהוה סְלֹחַ לוֹ כִּי אָז יֶעְשַׁן אַף יהוה וְקִנְאָתוֹ בָּאִישׁ הַהוּא וְרָבְצָה בּוֹ כָּל הָאָלָה הַכְּתוּבָה בַּסֵּפֶר הַזֶּה וּמָחָה יהוה אֶת שְׁמוֹ מִתַּחַת הַשָּׁמָיִם. כוְהִבְדִּילוֹ יהוה לְרָעָה מִכֹּל שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּכֹל אָלוֹת הַבְּרִית הַכְּתוּבָה בְּסֵפֶר הַתּוֹרָה הַזֶּה. כאוְאָמַר הַדּוֹר הָאַחֲרוֹן בְּנֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר יָקוּמוּ מֵאַחֲרֵיכֶם וְהַנָּכְרִי אֲשֶׁר יָבֹא מֵאֶרֶץ רְחוֹקָה וְרָאוּ אֶת מַכּוֹת הָאָרֶץ הַהִוא וְאֶת תַּחֲלֻאֶיהָ אֲשֶׁר חִלָּה יהוה בָּהּ. כבגָּפְרִית וָמֶלַח שְׂרֵפָה כָל אַרְצָהּ לֹא תִזָּרַע וְלֹא תַצְמִחַ וְלֹא יַעֲלֶה בָהּ כָּל עֵשֶׂב כְּמַהְפֵּכַת סְדֹם וַעֲמֹרָה אַדְמָה וּצְבֹיִים אֲשֶׁר הָפַךְ יהוה בְּאַפּוֹ וּבַחֲמָתוֹ. כגוְאָמְרוּ כָּל הַגּוֹיִם עַל מֶה עָשָׂה יהוה כָּכָה לָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת מֶה חֳרִי הָאַף הַגָּדוֹל הַזֶּה. כדוְאָמְרוּ עַל אֲשֶׁר עָזְבוּ אֶת בְּרִית יהוה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֹתָם אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת עִמָּם בְּהוֹצִיאוֹ אֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם. כהוַיֵּלְכוּ וַיַּעַבְדוּ אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ לָהֶם אֱלֹהִים אֲשֶׁר לֹא יְדָעוּם וְלֹא חָלַק לָהֶם. כווַיִּחַר אַף יהוה בָּאָרֶץ הַהִוא לְהָבִיא עָלֶיהָ אֶת כָּל הַקְּלָלָה הַכְּתוּבָה בַּסֵּפֶר הַזֶּה. כזוַיִּתְּשֵׁם יהוה מֵעַל אַדְמָתָם בְּאַף וּבְחֵמָה וּבְקֶצֶף גָּדוֹל וַיַּשְׁלִכֵם אֶל אֶרֶץ אַחֶרֶת כַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה. כחהַנִּסְתָּרֹת לַיהוה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וְהַנִּגְלֹת לָנוּ וּלְבָנֵינוּ עַד עוֹלָם לַעֲשׂוֹת אֶת כָּל דִּבְרֵי הַתּוֹרָה הַזֹּאת.
